Hey Guys, today i was wondering if i could stream video in my college Lan. Started with VLC and found it very easy to do it.

I will tell you the steps here, its really cool,

  • Open VLC Media Player
  • Navigate to Media-> Streaming
  • Click ‘Add’ button to add the video files you want to Stream.
  • Click the ‘Stream’ button at the bottom of the dialog.
  • In the next dialog box click ‘Next‘ button.
  • Now select ‘UDP(legacy)‘ from the ‘New Destination’ and click ‘Add’.
  • Now type the Destination IP address to whom you want to Stream the video and the Port. (In this case assume that our port is 1234)
  • That’s it….!!! now click ‘Stream’
  • Last thing – don’t forget to enable ‘Web Interface’ from ‘View’ menu.

Now in the Destination System

  • Navigate to Media-> Open Network Streaming
  • Now type ‘udp://@:1234’ in the the URL text box and click Play.
  • That’s it…!
